Who's Behind Fife Digital

A three-person team across Austin, Texas and Denver, Colorado. We build the tools ourselves and stay close to every client.

Julian

Julian

Founder & Builder

Julian's career sits at the intersection of software engineering and finance. He started building on the side (a college football pool that ran entirely in Google Sheets and JavaScript). He discovered he was good enough at it to start helping others. Today he works at a family office, having previously spent time at a financial technology company.

He earned his BA and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two cats.

Kevin

Kevin

Client Partnerships

Kevin brings a career in banking, including roles in small business and hard-money lending, to the table. He's spent years working directly with Austin business owners and knows what operational pain actually looks like from the inside.

He earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Chris

Chris

Partnerships & Solutions

Chris has spent his career at enterprise software companies, working directly with businesses to match technology to what they actually need. He's good at translating a real business problem into a tool that works, and brings that same instinct to scoping and building Fife Digital's custom tools.

He earned his degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and is based in the Denver area. Outside of work, Chris enjoys fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife and their two dogs.

What Clients Say

Real feedback from clients we've built custom tools for.

"Julian replaced a spreadsheet-heavy process that was slowing our team down with a simple tool that saved us hours every week. He examined, asked detailed questions, and got to the bottom of what was needed. Fast, responsive, and easy to work with."

Derek L. Director, Environmental Abatement Firm

"I came to Julian with a pretty vague problem: 'I need something that helps us track deals without living in a spreadsheet.' He asked the right questions, figured out exactly what we needed, and delivered a clean, easy-to-use tool our whole team adopted immediately. He has a rare ability to translate a business problem into something technical that actually works in practice."

Collin H. Principal Broker, Boutique Real Estate Firm

"Our team was manually pulling and reconciling data from three different sources every week. Julian automated the whole workflow into a single web tool with reporting built right in. It's saved us probably four or five hours every week and eliminated a whole category of errors. He was fast, communicative, and clearly knew what he was doing."

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how we work, what's included, and what happens after launch.

How long does a typical build take?
Most tools ship in 1–4 weeks from kickoff. Larger or more complex projects can run 6–8 weeks. We commit to a firm timeline before any work begins, so you'll know what to expect.
Who owns the code?
You do. Once your tool is delivered and final payment is made, the codebase is yours. We retain the right to apply general patterns and approaches in future client work, but the specific application (your branding, your data, your workflows) belongs entirely to you.
What's included in the monthly retainer?
Hosting, uptime monitoring, security updates, bug fixes, and small changes (typically up to about two hours of development per month). Larger feature additions are scoped and quoted separately, so you're never surprised by a bill.
What happens if we cancel the retainer?
You receive the codebase as-is and become responsible for hosting and ongoing maintenance. Our agreement specifies that no further changes or support are provided after cancellation without a new scope of work. We always provide a clean, documented handoff so the transition is smooth.
What does pricing look like?
Every project is different, so we don't list flat prices. They depend on scope and complexity. After a 30-minute discovery conversation, we'll send you a fixed build fee plus a flat monthly retainer. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.
Where will my tool be hosted?
We use a managed cloud hosting platform with TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, and automated encrypted backups. Production access is restricted with multi-factor authentication and least-privilege role-based controls. If you have a specific hosting requirement (your own AWS account, a particular region, EU data residency, etc.), we can accommodate that as part of the build.
How do you handle security and our data?
For most engagements, you remain the data controller and we operate as your data processor under your direction. We default to building and testing on synthetic or sample data rather than production data, can sign a Data Processing Agreement as part of the engagement, and limit production access. Specific controls — encryption, backups, audit logging, breach-notification timelines — are scoped per project. If you have regulatory requirements (CCPA, GDPR, GLBA, etc.), raise them during discovery and we'll address them in the proposal.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, on a case-by-case basis. For most engagements, the mutual confidentiality clause in our standard agreement is sufficient. If you have a specific NDA you need signed, send it over and we'll review.
What kinds of tools do you build?
Internal dashboards, data management boards, calculators and estimators, portfolio trackers, scoring and event tools. Anything where a custom interface beats stitching together spreadsheets. Browse the Tools section above for live examples.
